Computer Animation & it's Uses in Film Making Industry

Posted by Unknown

What is computer animation?

Computer animation refers to any sequence of visual changes in a scene, i.e. it is a series of images that are displayed in sequences. In addition to changing object position with translations or rotations, a computer generated animation could display variations in object size, color, transparency or surface texture. Advertising animations often transition one object shape into another. For example: transforming a can of motor oil into an automobile engine.

Computer animation cans orientation and focal length. We can also produce computer animations by changing lighting effects.

Application areas of computer animation are entertainment (motion pictures and cartoons), advertising scientific and engineering studies etc.
types of animation

There are mainly two types of animation:

1. 2d animation:

2D animation also known as cell (pixel based) animation is the most common kind of animation, where flat images (a rectangular block of pixels) are drawn one frame at a time. The animation package also involves some special effects like morphing and warping. Morphing (transformation of object shapes from one from to another) takes two images and seamlessly changes one image to another. The second image actually seems to grow out of the first one. So morphing is used to show the pace (step) of change more clearly. Warping is an effect one image is used to show various changes.

2. 3D animation:

In 3D animation, mathematical model of 3D object is created to describe realistically with depth. Now it has become a common media element in film, video and multimedia packages.

Animation in film making:

Difficulties scenes, which are unable to do, are now done from computer as real and amazing like jumping from tall building or mountain, flying man and women and ghost film etc.

Cartoons can be made from animation with funny faces like making noses bigger with big head and thin legs.
Duplicate of a man can be made, which copies its characters.
